I have been lucky enough to see UDLs in action on my Wednesday visits, and view first-hand how meta-awareness and meta-linguistic growth runs parallel to strategies that enhance executive functioning skills.
What surprised me most about alternative learning strategies, is the inclusivity towards all learning types and levels. I believe that as a new era of teachers, we have an obligation to understand the needs of our students, and modify the lesson plans passed down from before. Furthermore, my gratification goes out to the teachers before us who have paved the way through the complexities technology has created psychologically for our students.
My motivation towards this topic influenced my recent free inquiry on 360 Degree Learning Methods, which have proved to be useful in my future teaching practice. While reflecting on the complexities I have witnessed and learned about in my studies, I do not fear them. I feel that an educator who accumulates appropriate accommodating methods for their students, proves that they have educated themselves. I feel thankful that my study week has allowed me to develop this portfolio to use in the near future.
